A member of the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A - Brazil's premier football league, Club Athletico Paranaense is a team that is not to be taken lightly. The Curitiba-based club was founded in 1924 and has been considered an underdog for most of its history, however it has upset to several of the leagues giants over the years. Its greatest achievement came in 2001 when it won the league against all odds. That was also its first major trophy win, one which sparked a sense of belief and resulted in Club Athletico Paranaense winning the Copa Sudamericana and the Copa do Brasil in the next few years.
