Sir Mix-A-Lot is a rapper and producer from Seattle who rose to recognition during the golden age of hip-hop. Establishing his style with unexpected elements like a David Bowie sample or a Black Sabbath cover, he captured the attention of Def American records, who went on to released his most acclaimed record, 1992's Mack Daddy. The album featured the iconic, Grammy Award-winning hit "Baby Got Back" and catapulted Sir Mix-A-Lot onto the national stage. Though his old school style was eclipsed by more experimental hip-hop in the 2010s, he continues to expand his horizons through various projects, including a collaboration with the Seattle Symphony in 2014.
