Waasland-Beveren is a Belgian football club representing the city of Beveren, East Flanders in the Jupiler Pro League. Founded in 1936 as Red Star, the club played in the provincial leagues before reaching the national level for the first time in the 2000-01 season. It changed its name to KV Red Star Waasland following a successful third division season and its consistent success in subsequent seasons helped it move up into the second division of national football. The club adopted its current name in 2010 and moved base to the Freethiel Stadion, Beveren, where it plays its home games. Waasland-Beveren reached the Belgian First Division A for the first time ever after finishing second in the second division at the end of the 2011-12 season.
