Based at the Golden Spurs Stadium in Kortrijk, Kortrijk is a Belgian football club that participates in the top football league in the country - the Belgian First Division A. It was formed in 1971 following the amalgamation of Stade Kortrijk and Koninklijke Kortrijk Sport. The club was highly successful from the 1970s through the 1990s and won the Belgian Second Division Final Round numerous times. However, it hit a lean patch during the 2000s and had to spend a major portion of the decade playing in the second and third division before re-entering the first division in 2007. The club achieved one of its best rankings in the 2009-10 season.
