Australian ice hockey team Melbourne Ice was established in the year 2000. Based at the O’Brien Icehouse, it has been representing the city of Melbourne in the Australian Ice Hockey League since 2002. The team is a multiple-time champion of the Goodall Cup and the H Newman Reid Trophy, and has also won the V.I.P Cup, the Easton Conference and the Trans-Tasman Champions League. In 2018, the Ice retired the jersey number of club legend Vincent Hughes - who won many laurels during his time with the team – in his honor, in a pre-match ceremony.
