Townsville Fire is the only team from the northern half of Australia that competes in the Women's National Basketball League. The team was founded in 2001 and it plays its home games at the Townsville RSL Stadium. Its performances during the 2012 to 2018 matches are considered some of the best in the team’s history. It was during this period that the team managed to win the Championships thrice and established a solid reputation in the league for years to come.
