Body Count is a Los Angles-based heavy metal band that owns a crossover fusion of thrash metal and hardcore punk. Founded by lead vocalist Ice-T and songwriter and guitarist Ernie C., the group established an aggressive, controversial style with its eponymous debut album in 1992. Songs like "Cop Killer" garnered the record positive accolades and but far more negative criticisms, which caused Ice-T to remove the track from the album. Though the band never earned the same amount of widespread attention as it did for its debut, Body Count continues to perform and release new music, including the 2013 LP, Manslaughter.
