The Brisbane Lions is an Australian football club which plays in the Australian Football League (AFL). It is based in Brisbane, Queensland. The team was founded in 1996 with the merging of the Fitzroy Lions and the Brisbane Bears. The Lions won three premierships in a row from 2001 through 2003. The club is one of the most successful in the AFL.The Lion's Mascot Manor representative and club mascot is Bernie "Gabba" Vegas, a caricature of a lion dressed in Brisbane Lions jumper, sunglasses, wide lapels and flares, designed to resemble Elvis Presley.
