Dawn McCarthy is a folk singer/songwriter and musician who is best known as the front woman of the Oakland-based psychedelic project Faun Fables. After releasing her band's debut album, Early Song, in 1999, she established herself as a new force of urban folk music with her art rock-inspired sound. As she continued to perform and record new music with the outfit, McCarthy began a collaborative partnership with singer/songwriter Will Oldham, also known as Bonnie "Prince" Billy. With her experimental folk sensibility and Billy's alternative country leanings, the duo released several albums together, including 2013's What the Brothers Sang.
