Named after a Guy de Maupassant short story, La Maison Tellier is a French folk-rock band that inhabits the American folk/alternative country idiom so completely that, if the group didn't perform a significant number of songs in it native French tongue, one would be hard pressed not to mistake the band for an outfit of Yanks. Formed in Normandie by Yannick Marais and Sebastien Miel in 2004, the band uses both conventional and non-traditional instrumentation in its original tunes in addition to the popular reworkings of songs from outside its respective genre.
