The electronic music scene in Europe is quite different than the United States. During the 90s, electronic music went mainstream in Europe and nearly everyone helped normalize the scene. However, in the U.S. the electronic scene (also known as the rave scene) went underground and was vilified by the mainstream to a certain degree. While the American scene has since recovered somewhat, the European scene has only grown with time and matured. One of the leading figures that emerged out of France in mid aughts is POPOF. His dance-friendly techno beats are played all over the European continent and if Americans were as exposed to electronic music as their European brethren are, they'd undoubtedly be listening to POPOF too.
