While Fitz and the Tantrums looks like a band straight out of the 1960s, complete with a horn section decked out in white suits and a soulful front woman in a form-fitting, glitzy gown, the band's music is surprisingly not a direct replica of 1960s soul. This era is certainly the Los Angeles-based, seven-piece group's primary influence, but instead of producing completely retro music, the band incorporates enough modern elements to be considered a neo-soul group that would satisfy the tastes of mainstream pop-rock audiences. Further proving this ability to fit in with the mainstream, Fitz and the Tantrums toured with Maroon 5 after its debut album Pickin' Up the Pieces, in 2010 and won over fans across the US.
