Based in Berlin, Moderat is a three-piece electronic music project consisting of members of two prominent names in the industrial dance music scene. Sascha Ring, also known as Aparat, first joined forces with the duo behind Modeselektor, Gernot Bronsert and Sabastian Szary, in the early 2000s when Moderat released its debut EP, Auf Kosten der Gesundheit. Due to creative differences, it took the band seven years to release another record, but the band eventually dropped its eponymous debut studio LP in 2009, earning critical and commercial acclaim and solidifying itself as a legitimate outfit instead of a mere side project with its glitchy, dance-inducing sound.
