Olivia Ruiz

Olivia Ruiz is a French singer/songwriter of Spanish origin who writes music that falls under the nouvelle chanson genre. Getting her start in 2001, competing on the popular French music contest and reality TV show Star Academy, though Ruiz didn't win, she was noticed enough to land a recording contract for her first album, which was released in 2003. Blending classical sounds from the forefathers of the French chanson genre, with a more contemporary sonic aesthetic, Ruiz has managed to create a music style for herself that effortlessly blends the emotive traits of yesteryear's songwriters with a palatably updated sound with modern and refined production sensibilities.
