Cult of Luna is a post-hardcore band from Sweden that was formed in 1998. Though the band experienced underground popularity with its first two albums, Cult of Luna managed to breakthrough to a more mainstream audience with the release of its third album, Salvation, in 2004. Possibly due to the curtailing of overtly aggressive vocal and instrumental stylings, the band was able to attract a new generation of listeners who might've been turned off by the slightly ghoulish leanings so characteristic of death and black metal.
