Moneen is a post-harcore band from Canada that formed in 1999 out of the ashes of Perfectly Normal. After patching its lineup together, the band recorded its 1999 EP Smaller Chairs For the Early 1900s, defining its sound with elements of alternative rock and emo music. Though the band released its debut full-length album The Theory of Harmonial Value, in 2007, Moneen first earned industry attention with its 2006 record The Red Tree, largely due to Alex Liu's documentary The Start to This May Be the End to Another, which chronicles the band's recording process. The band dropped its fourth studio album, The World I Want to Leave Behind in 2009.
