The African continent has been called the Cradle of Life because most evolutionary scientists agree that humans, or homo sapiens, originated in Africa. There are many things that can be learned from the continent, especially for musicians looking to be inspired by tribal rhythms. When Swedish-born musician Mikael Zifa Eriksson traveled there he immediately fell in love with the characteristic style of music that exists in the continent. After this cathartic journey to Africa, he started incorporating the sounds he heard while he was down there into his music and the material he creates is a unique style of classical African sounds mixed with modern production techniques and instrumentation.
