Three Legged Race is the project of Robert Beatty, a founder of Hair Police as well as a celebrated album art designer and illustrator for many underground artists of the 2000s. With his solo work, Beatty has developed his sound into a display of unconfined, multi-disciplined creativity. He released the first volume of his EP series Rope Commercial, in 2014, intentionally plodding out un-heroic melodies over a dark groove. The picture-disc of Rope Commercial Volume 1 is outfitted with classic Beatty visions: pathetic-looking cyborg figures that synergize with digital devices. These figures function as windows into both his art and music, with its barren places and marred voices.
