The English band Waiting for Winter sounds like it came about in the early 1980s, during the heyday of the post punk movement. The yearning vocals and almost militant-like guitar riffs beg for comparison to a band like The Smiths. But the band was formed in 2006 and it is able to incorporate some contemporary elements of studio production and modern influences into its sound to create a finely crafted tone that nods to past influences as well as cutting edge sonic aesthetics. This blending of styles manages to work fairly well for Waiting for Winter and as the band continues to refine it's sound, it will no doubt continue to be an interesting English band to track.
