90s alt-rockers The Verve Pipe formed in the college town of East Lansing, Michigan. Fronted by brothers Brian and Brad Vander Ark, the six-piece steadily built a following in its home state until landing a contract with RCA records. While the band did produce the hit "The Freshman" that charted at #5 on Billboard, it didn't find much success with its followup albums and finally disbanded in 2001. The group was asked to contribute a song to a family music compilation in 2008, but decided to write an entire album of family friendly material instead. This album is appropriately titled A Family Album and resulted in a family friendly tour for the reunited band.
