The Blow

Formerly a member of the Microphones, Portland based Mikhaela Yvonne Maricich quit the band to focus on her career as a visual artist. While she still presents exhibits of her illuminated paper sculptures, she decided she missed music and began releasing solo music under the name Get the Hell Out of the Way of the Volcano, which was eventually shortened to The Blow once Jona Bechtolt (founder of YACHT) joined the band. Though Bechtolt no longer releases music with the group, Maricich kept the name The Blow and continues to create quirky indie pop that often includes short monologues or sparse spoken word.
