Gold Panda

Derwin Schlecker, who performs and releases music under his Gold Panda moniker, is an individual who's unafraid to create art that's a direct byproduct of harnessing a plethora of influences and molding them in to one coherent sonic amalgamation. Being born in England, Schlecker would go on to live in Japan for a while as well as study at the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University in London. Living in the East as well as studying its culture left a strong influence on Schlecker, as did familiarizing himself with Africa's rich history as well. In an attempt to blend all of these essences into a derived artistic form, Schlecker started composing his own characteristically original electronic music. With ambient tendencies and elements of house and techno thrown in, Schlecker's Gold Panda music is oftentimes extremely experimental, which has resulted in him winning over many listeners who are interested in more avant-garde electronic styles.
