East Village duo Designer Drugs was formed in 2009 and almost instantaneously shot to the forefront of the New York club scene. While band member Michael Vincent Patrick attended med school and the band's other half, Theodore Paul Nelson, "drank whiskey across the globe," the duo decided team up at night to make music, in an attempt to keep Patrick sane and prevent Nelson from spiraling into alcoholism. Remixing 23 tracks by prominent musicians and DJing over 100 shows worldwide, the band has kept remarkably busy in the year of its conception and has found popularity with its gritty grindhouse electro.
