Back in the '60s, if a musician sold the rights to his songs he was considered a sellout and would receive a good amount of flack for kowtowing to corporate influences. It's a different game today, and with people illegally downloading music for free it has become commonplace for a musician to sell his or her tunes to be played in movies, television shows and commercials simply to pay the bills and put food on the table. Los Angeles based indie rock artist AM has made a career out of doing just this. His unique songs - which differ from modern folk to lounge and jazz to pop gems - have appeared in a plethora of commercially viable endeavors, even though his records have never been best sellers and many people are oblivious to AM's existence. But this doesn't deter the gifted singer songwriter from crafting extremely pensive and catchy songs as well as going on tour whenever his schedule will permit.
