Taking his name from the H.G. Wells novel The Time Machine (after the woman of the future who the protagonist falls in love with, Weena, and the the cannibalistic species the Morlocks), Alexander Katsche branched off from his metal band Samsas Traum to begin a solo project. Releasing his first album in 2001 which was dubbed "horror noise industrial," as it was noise music full of spliced samples from horror movies, Katshe almost gave up the project due to poor press and low record sales. Instead, he took a few years off and came back with a more dance-industrial oriented release that fared much better with both critics and fans.
