During the early 1990s there were a lot of interesting things going on with British music. There were groups like The Stone Roses that were part of the growing Madchester scene, there was Primal Scream progressing the acid house scene and there was Super Furry Animals making a unique style of electronically infused power pop. The band was formed in 1990, and even though a few of the members had respectable backgrounds in techno, the music the group created was extremely psychedelic sounding--almost akin to a lot of British groups from the 1960s. By playing a good deal of shows around England, Super Furry Animals created a good amount of buzz for itself and when the band finally released its debut LP, it was met with critical and somewhat moderate commercial success. Though the group has evolved and grown since its formative years, the band has stayed true to its original mythos and it continues to release interesting, listener friendly material and tour in support of it.
