Beginning his career as an actor under the socialist government of the German Democratic Republic, Manfred Krug made quite the name for himself in cinema and television throughout Germany. Not satisfied with an acting career alone, Krug began singing in jazz clubs, proving to be a multi-talented artist. Kurg went on to release recordings of his live performances as well as in-studio albums. However, after he was banned from acting and singing by the GDR regime, due to his participation in protests, Krug petitioned to be allowed to relocate to West Germany, and once granted that request, immediately scaled the Berlin Wall. While he didn't sing much after his move, Krug acted in a wide array of roles. Krug has since turned to music again and often performs with the Berlin Jazz Orchestra.
