Mike Stern is an artist of unique accomplishment and distinction throughout a lifetime performing music. From his early days as a student at Boston's prestigious Berklee College of Music, Stern showed promise, opening the door to such gigs as guitarist for Blood, Sweat and Tears, to an invitation from Miles Davis to join the lineup in his 1981 comeback band. Stern has worked in concert with a number of highly influential jazz musicians over his decades in the music industry. He has released a long string of chart-topping jazz albums and performed all over the world with his distinctive style and unshakable technique. Stern has been the recipient of a number of high honors in the jazz world, including receiving the Miles Davis award at the Montreal Jazz Festival in 2007 and being named as one of the 75 greatest jazz guitarists of all time by DownBeat magazine. He now performs his work both as a soloist, in a variety of ensembles and in consortium with a handful of other jazz masters of the day.
