Alejandra Ghersi, better known professionally as Arca, is a Caracas-born singer-songwriter and DJ. Based out of Barcelona, she dropped a string of EPs such as the four-track Baron Libre, six-track Stretch 1 and ten-track EP Stretch 2 in 2012. She was noticed by Kanye West who, in 2013, invited her to work with him on five tracks from his sixth album Yeezus, released later that year. A month later, she released her mixtape &&&&& through Hippos in Tanks. The mixtape was also uploaded on SoundCloud. She also played a significant role in the production of FKA Twigs' EP2. The next year saw the release of Arca's debut album Xen, which also featured her debut single "Thievery." She worked with Björk on the production of her 2015 release - Vulnicura - and with American singer Kelela on her EP Hallucinogen, on which she co-wrote and produced multiple tracks. Her third studio album Arca, released in 2017, received critical acclaim and made it to various year-end lists.
