Dance punk electro visual artist YACHT is known for its continuous reinvention of its sound and image. In 2010 the Portland-based duo, founded by Jonathan Warren, decided to add two backing members to the band, adopt more instrumentation and call this new endeavor The Straight Gaze. Featuring Bobby Birdman and Jeffrey Jerusalem, with a less heavy emphasis on electronic experimentation, the Straight Gaze portrays a different aspect of YACHT's music, but retains the band's notoriously good live performance.
