Susanne Sundfør

Norwegian singer/songwriter Susanne Sundfør studied both jazz and classical music before forming her own hybrid style that propelled her to the top of the Norwegian charts. She harnessed controversial press upon receiving the 2008 Best female performance award in Norway by responding, "I am first and foremost an artist, and secondly a woman," debating the fact that the category for best artist should be divided into two categories. Whether this press was negative or positive, Sundfør's popularity certainly did not dwindle.
