During her formative years, Sarah Blasko was raised in Australia by Christian missionary parents who tried to instill a sense of pietism devotion in their daughter. But after spending a bit too much time being concerned about the apocalypse and the second coming of Christ, Blasko decided to leave the church and pursue a music career. She started her first band, Acquiesce, in 1998 and had great success with the group - touring Australia several times and releasing a few critically successful albums. After tiring of band dynamics and squabbles over song composition, Blasko decided to strike out on her own and launch a solo career that found the Aussie singing mellow, tasteful indie rock.
