Discharge is a British hardcore punk band that was formed by Terence "Tezz" Roberts and Royston "Rainy" Wainwright in 1977. Credited for pioneering a characteristically aggressive style of punk rock, the band would make its name on the UK live circuit for several years before releasing its debut album, Why?, in 1981. Though the group has undergone a number of lineup changes and hiatuses over its decades-long existence, it continues to perform like the seasoned veteran act that it is.
