Charles McPherson is one of the most celebrated jazz artists working today, bringing his stinging riffs and rhythms to audiences all over the world. He began his study of jazz music in his youth in Detroit, during the advent of bebop and the explosion of contemporary jazz greats. As a master saxophonist, McPherson has been at the forefront of the modern jazz movement, dating back to his involvement with Charles Mingus through the 1960s and 70s. He continues to perform both as a soloist and as bandleader of his own Charles McPherson Quartet, bringing the improvisation, deep musical roots and years of experience to the stage every time.
