When people think of a French musician, they no doubt conjure idyllic images of a mustachioed man wearing a red and white stripped t-shirt, a beret and playing an accordion - possibly with a little monkey attached to a small chain with the purpose of collecting donations from passersby. While this image is probably an inadvertent misconception about the average French musician, it's strangely comforting to think of a aging man playing the accordion with a monkey on the streets of Paris.
Possibly in a ploy to go against the picturesque image of a French musician, the French metal band Aqme makes a point of looking as contradictory to the average Frenchman/woman as possible. With imposing tattoos, dark t-shirts, strange hair-cuts and offsetting snarls, Aqme achieves being able to look imposing - if that's what the group is going for. The band has been around since 1999 and with plenty of time spent on the road and in the studio, the group has honed in on its distinctive hard rock sound to an almost clandestine degree.
