Interpreting a story from the Bible can be tricky business. There are so many people that hold on to the religious text with such fervent zealousness that creating an original piece based off a Bible verse can raise several moral quandaries. The French opera maestro Camille Saint-Sanes managed to pull it off though and his grand opera Samson and Delilah is considered a crowning achievement. The story is timeless and with masterful instrumental accompaniments, the opera reaches pinnacles of musical purity and unmolested beauty that few other operas touch on.
