Trio was a very influential and successful new wave band from Germany that formed in 1980 and split up in 1985. It consisted of three members and was mainly characterized by it's minimalistic, reduced sound and style. Their songs were mostly played by only two instruments, a simple and monotone drum beat and some generic, basic guitar licks, topped by occasional synthesizer sounds and the simple and more spoken then sung lyrics of singer Stephan Remmler. Although the band became famous being a part of the Neue Deutsche Welle (Engl.: New German Wave), Trio dissociated themself from that movement pretty soon. The biggest hit of the band was their song "Da Da Da" from 1982 that was very successful in over 30 countries, sold over 3 million copies and was covered by many other bands.
