Husband and wife Stu and Debbie Hanna decided to make music together under the name Megson in 2003. The pair moved to London and quickly integrated itself into the folk scene and by 2005, it landed a slot at the Cambridge Festival. A classically trained vocalist, Debbie acts as the anchor of the group and is accompanied by Stu's flavored instrumentation, which gives Megson a modern raw edge. The duo released its first album in 2004 titled On the Side, a collection of classic and contemporary folk music. After releasing an eponymous EP of new and live tracks, Megson again turned to classic folk for its 2008 sophomore album Take Yourself a Wife, which is an ode to the folk songs of its home town Cleveland, England.
