In the early 1990s, alternative music was a sprawling mess of converging genres and musical styles. Most of the bands were so locked into the specific music they were creating that they totally ignored what was going on in other music scenes. Primal Scream broke down these self-imposed walls and took elements from various music styles to create totally original music. Though the group was formed in the early 1980s, it wasn't until the group released its break through album Screamadelica in 1992 that the band full grew into its own. By fusing elements of electronic music--mainly acid house--with early 1990s Britpop and grunge, Primal Scream totally reinvented itself and proved to many bands in the music community that dabbling in various musical genres can ultimately lead to success.
