Though bands often look for gimmicks to make their albums stand out from the masses, Serena-Maneesh appears to follow this gimmick search by recording one of its album in a cave. The band's characteristically dank sound actually requires a location as vapid as an underground cave and after listening to Serena-Maneesh it seems that group would be out of place in a recording studio. Fronted by Emil Nikolaisen and backed by a continuously rotating cast of fellow Norwegian players, Serena-Maneesh forge a style of music full of densely layered walls of sound, teetering between sweet shoegaze and heavy noise rock. The extreme precision and perfectionism of Nikolaisen make for beautifully crafted songs and live shows.
