Dionysos is a French art rock band that's known for its surrealist tendencies. Since the release of its 1996 debut album, Happening Songs, the band has set itself apart with fantasy narratives and often nonsensical lyrics about other worldly characters and creatures. Dionysos's 2005 album, Monsters in Love, as well as its 2007 record La Mécanique du Cœur, are both set in completely surreal worlds created by front man and primary songwriter Mathias Malzieu, who subsequently used the the fictional worlds as inspiration for two original comic books. Dionysos released its seventh studio album Bird 'n' Roll, in 2012.
