One of the most recognizable guitar players of all time with his trademark top hat and long crimped hair, Slash is a renowned guitarist who has enjoyed a long career within the Los Angeles music community, though is perhaps best known as the former lead guitarist of Guns N' Roses. After earning world-wide recognition with Guns N' Roses during the 1980s and 1990s, Slash co-founded Velvet Revolver with fellow Guns N' Roses members Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum in the early 2000s. The new super group found a period of mainstream success before being put on hold in 2008, leaving Slash time to focus on solo material for the first time. He released his debut self-titled album in 2010 with a roster of guest contributions by a wide range of artists from Dave Grohl to Iggy Pop, and Ozzy Osbourne to Fergie. Slash has maintained a respectable solo career with the release of his 2012 record Apocalyptic Love, and continues to leave his mark on rock music despite having already solidified his place in music history.
