It seems like all of the pop musicians that burst on the scene in the late 1990s have now faded away because their music was not able to stand the test of time. One musician whose enduing quality has shown itself through is the Canadian-born singer Nelly Furtado. Though she arrived amid a plethora of other pop musicians, Furtado is one of the only musicians left that is still well respected for both her music and social grace. Nelly Furtado has worked to perfect her dance pop sound. When Furtado first hit the scene in 1996, it was with a trip-hop duo, Nelstar. She later decided she wanted to pursue a wider range of music, and has now become not only a singer/songwriter, but also a record producer and an actress. Furtado released her hit single, "I'm Like A Bird" in 2000, and basked in the ensuing success. After a few years and a relatively unsuccessful album, she revamped in 2006 with the release of Loose. Her pop rock style is catchy and Furtado's range is vast; she has collaborated with a variety of artists who span genres, including the likes of Jurassic 5, Paul Oakenfold and Esthero.
