Neko Case

Neko Case is a female singer/songwriter who's primarily known for her early career alt-country and later career indie rock aesthetics. Her 1997 country-tinged debut LP, The Virginian, set the tone for her next few subsequent releases. But in 2002 Case took a distinctive turn towards indie rock music and changed her sound fairly drastically. Her gentle voice has remained intact though and it will no doubt continue to swoon legions of fans as she continues to release new material.
