When the Finnish metal band Amoral formed in 1997, the group created a slightly tongue-in-cheek style of hard rock with quirky riffs, sing-a-long choruses and cartoon-ish lyrical imagery. As the band matured, though, the members of the group decided to pursue a bit more serious and artistically respectable style of music. By concentrating on creating a rhythmically-propelled, technically adept style of death metal, Amoral became one of the more revered hard rock bands in Scandinavia and has since managed to maintain its position as a leader in the Northern European metal scene.
