Coming from a highly musical family, with a father who drummed for The Temptations and a a Grammy award-winning drummer for a brother, Stephen Bruner fittingly picked up music early on in life as well. At the age of four, Bruner found a penchant for the bass and by 16 was touring worldwide with the likes of Snoop Dogg, Eric Benet and others, soon after joining the band Suicidal Tendencies. While Bruner still plays with Suicidal Tendencies, he also donned the name Thundercat (from the cartoon series) and began producing solo music. After collaborating with Flying Lotus, the bassist combined his jazz fusion style with funk and electronica to create a debut solo album The Golden Age of Apocalypse in 2011, which received a good deal of acclaim.
