Louis C.K., born Louis Szekely, is an American stand-up comedian known for his bluntly honest but extremely pointed and intelligent material. As a teenager growing up in Boston, he took a passionate interest in writing and was greatly inspired by some of the comedy's finest talents, including Richard Pryor and George Carlin. His writing career picked up steam with jobs for several prominent late night comedy shows, including The Late Show with David Letterman and Late Night with Conan O'Brien, opportunities that allowed him to eventually explore his own stand-up comedy career. C.K.'s material combines cynical ruminations of life, marriage and kids with an empathetic, at times even warm personality that has made him one of the most popular and respected comics working in the US today. In addition to his live stand-up career, he writes, produces and stars in his own show on the FX network, simply entitled, Louie.
