Psychic Ills

New York City has been a long been a haven for some of the best psychedelic rock that the US has to offer, as hypnotic outfit Psychic Ills continues to prove. Formed in 2003, the band takes the open-minded exploration and somewhat sinister groove of 1960s psychedelia, and re-frames it in a modern context with crisp production values. The group's strengths can be found in its patient building and layering of textures, which range from spacey loops, to feedback, to crazy vocal effects. A dark and somewhat ominous vibe drifts through much of Psychic Ills music, making it likely to appeal to many fans of uncompromising psychedelia.
