As guitarist for the experimental electronic band Emeralds, Mark McGuire manages to define himself as a leader of the group with his textually rich sound. Though the Cleveland, Ohio-based trio has maintained a rather prolific recording and touring schedule since forming in 2006, McGuire has somehow found time to compose an impressive amount of solo material that is able to stack toe-to-toe with nearly everything he has done with Emeralds. By treating his guitar with a myriad of different effects and looping his free-form playing, the adept musician creates a contextually deep style of guitar-based electronica with avant-garde leanings that tend to go over well with individuals who are connoisseurs of good, forward-thinking music.
