As a youngster, Gabriel Faure was exposed to the expansive world of classical composition by his mentor, the noted French conductor Camille Saint-Saens. Opening Faure's eyes to the catalog of Schumann and Liszt gave the young composer an opportunity to immerse himself in tonal complexities and rhythmic shifts. Growing up, these sonic exposures undoubtedly left a lasting impression on Faure and as he started writing compositions of his own, his pieces were met with great regard by both critics and the general public. To this day, Faure is considered one of the more impressive and impassioned French composers of all time.
